music therapist, mental health practitioner, doula
“Let us go onward with copious amounts of care, courage, and commitment to showing up the best we can, in all the ways we can.” -Chani Nicholas
Cara Hart is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), pre-licensed mental health clinician, and certified doula (SBD). She holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy from Immaculata University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a Minor in Psychology from Penn State University.
Cara became passionate about wellness while bearing witness to the strength of many loved ones. Then, she channeled this passion into creating a hospital-based music therapy program working with Maternal-Child Health patients. This deepened her perspective of the ways that mental and physical health intertwine. Further, it sparked an interest in role music can play in wellness.
She affirms the stance of music therapist, Kenneth Bruscia, who states, “Health is wholeness–a harmony of the parts.” Cara is passionate about helping people make these connections to access their inner strength.
There are parts of our lives that are not easy to reach with words. Music therapy can provide tools to gain insights, improve coping, and make connections. People do not need to have any musical talent to engage in music therapy.
In sessions, we use both verbal techniques and music-based intervention. Cara works with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. She specializes in providing an eclectic approach to mental health. In addition, she offers birthing support as both a music therapist and doula.
Outside of making music, Cara enjoys spending time with her husband and their rescue dog, reading, and playing Animal Crossing.
