“Let us go onward with copious amounts of care, courage, and commitment to showing up the best we can, in all the ways we can.” -Chani Nicholas
Cara Wojciechowski is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) and certified birth and bereavement doula (SBD). She holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy from Immaculata University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a Minor in Psychology from Penn State University.
Cara developed a passion for healthcare and wellness through bearing witness to the resilience of many loved ones through their own struggles with mental and physical health. Shortly after becoming a music therapist, she channeled this passion into the creation of a hospital-based music therapy program working with Maternal-Child Health populations. This experience deepened her understanding of the ways that mental health and physical health are intertwined, and sparked an interest in discovering music therapy’s role in both integrative wellness and birthing.
She has come to affirm the stance of music therapist, Kenneth Bruscia, who states, “Health is wholeness–a harmony of the parts; thus, a common goal of music therapy is to help the client to make connections of all kinds, to put the parts of themself, their life, and their world together into a harmonious whole.” Cara is passionate about helping folks make these connections to access their inherent resilience.
There are aspects of our experiences that can be difficult to reach with words, and music therapy can provide valuable tools to gain insights, develop coping strategies, and make connections in a new way. People do not need to have any prior music experience or musical talent to benefit from and engage in music therapy. In sessions, she uses both verbal and music experiences to promote wholeness, wellness, and growth. Cara works with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. She specializes in providing a holistic approach to mental and physical health, and providing birthing support to clients as a dually-certified music therapist and doula.
Outside of making music, Cara’s cup is filled by spending time with her partner and their rescue dog (Mel), laughing with loved ones, reading, playing Animal Crossing, and watching lighthearted TV.
