Therapeutic Massage Therapy
Elizabeth Brunner, (LMT, CT), and Gabrielle Warner (LMT, TTT ™) are our premier massage therapists who meet a variety of clients needs through massage, cupping, and Trauma Touch therapies.
Therapeutic massage incorporates a variety of modalities to enhance the body’s natural restorative functioning by relieving tension, alleviating pain and stress, relaxing muscles, healing soft tissue, increasing blood flow, and improving lymphatic circulation. Regular massages can enhance health, provide relaxation, release muscle tightness, relieve anxiety and tension, and balance aspects of body and mind.
Therapeutic massage may be particularly helpful for persons with the following conditions:
- Cancer, depression, or stress disorders
- Injuries such as overuse, repetitive strain injuries, workplace injuries, and athletic trauma
- Digestive restoration issues
Unlike massage (skin compression), Cupping Therapy uses negative pressure which pulls stagnation out of tissues and brings it to the skin level. During this process, the pores expand and discharge waste, aiding the body’s circulatory system to properly flush out the waste. A cup is placed on the skin and then suctioned between 5-10 minutes. The cups are then removed and or used to massage the area.
Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. To learn more about the multi-faceted benefits of cupping go to http://www.cuppingtherapy.org.
